The rainfall erosivity (R-factor) is a core parameter of the USLE/RUSLE modelling framework. It describes the erosive potential of rainfall. The R-factor is a key climatic driver of soil erosion and is essential for robust soil loss estimation.
In Slovakia, rainfall erosivity shows strong spatial variability driven by complex rainfall regimes. Capturing this variability requires high-quality and high-resolution data.
This dataset represents a next-generation R-factor product, built on recent scientific outcomes, improved observational inputs, and enhanced spatial modelling techniques. It provides a more consistent representation of rainfall erosivity across Slovakia.
Dataset: Regional Climatological Institute (2026). High-resolution R-factor product for Slovakia, derived from 1-minute rainfall observations (1995–2024). For dataset enquiries, please contact us.
